Theodor Petersen Post 1 was represented at the first convention in 1919 in Minneapolis Minnesota with a red artillery unit flag
Minnesota Post 1 was issued a Temporary Charter on 6/24/1919 then a Permanent
Charter was issued on 8/25/1921.
Theodor was the first KIA from Minneapolis,
his commanding officer
was the first Commander of Post 1
In June 1925 the NEC authorized
the
red American Legion Post 1 Colors
and they have remaind in
place at Post 1.
In 1988 there was a merger of 6 Posts in the 5th District,
and the surviving name was Minneapolis Post One
The American Legion blue caps have the number 1 on the front and
the normal city/state designation on the left side..
